CHENNAI: Eight children from Nigeria underwent heart surgery at MIOT Hospital here recently, benefiting from generous contributions from a charity set up by African professional footballer Nwankwo Kanu.
The children also had adequate support from Children’s Heart Internationale MIOT (CHIME), a project to treat children with congenital heart diseases from economically weaker sections. A representative of the Kanu Foundation, Tunde, who accompanied the patients, thanked MIOT Hospital officials, including chairman Mallika Mohandas and chief paediatric cardiac surgeon Robert Coelho and his team.— Special Correspondent
