Vivek-Ashutosh start well

NEW DELHI: The top-seeded Vivek Shokeen and Ashutosh Singh beat Aqeel Khan of Pakistan and Sunil Kumar 7-5, 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinals of the ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Lahore on Monday.

In singles, Sunil Kumar and Divij Sharan made the second round.

The results (featuring Indians): Singles (first round): Sunil Kumar bt Artem Isaev (Rus) 6-2, 6-3; Divij Sharan bt Tanveer Ashiq (Pak) 7-6(4), 6-1.

Doubles (pre-quarterfinals): Rupesh Roy & Divij Sharan bt Mohammed Mohazebnia (Iri) & Asim Shafik (Pak) 6-0, 6-4.
