IMPERIOUS: Wriddhiman Saha sent the Hyderabad bowlers on a leather hunt during his unbeaten knock of 111. AMRITSAR: U. Kaul’s 144 (384b, 16x4) put Punjab on a strong wicket as it closed the third day’s play of its Ranji Trophy super league tie against Andhra at 372 for nine here on Monday. Resuming at 173 for three, Pankaj Dharmani (overnight 73 batting) was dismissed for 94. However, Kaul (batting at 79 overnight) continued to play a composed innings and duly completed his century, and turned out to be instrumental in Punjab posting a formidable total. A 38-run first innings lead has been taken by Punjab. Giving the much-need support for Kaul at the other end was A. Kakkar (48, 136b, 4x4). At Cuttack, Uttar Pradesh scripted an innings and 10-run victory over Orissa in its Super league match. After taking a 132-run lead, UP bowled out Orissa for 222 in its second innings, with S. Tyagi scalping a match-winning four wickets. Manoj Tiwary (147 overnight) cracked a double century (203, 283b, 28x4, 2x6) and W.P. Saha compiled an unbeaten century (111 not out, 194b, 15x4, 1x6) as Bengal, 289 for five overnight, finished at 461 against Hyderabad, which was struggling at 65 for five in reply at close.
