ANU and Bharatiyar post wins

VIJAYAWADA: Bharatiyar, Gujarat, Kerala and host Acharya Nagarjuna University registered victories over their respective rivals in the fourth round of the knock-out fixtures in the South-West Zone inter-university handball tournament for women at the ANU Campus at Guntur on Monday.

The results:

Fourth round: Gujarat bt Osmania 18-13; Kerala bt Bikaner 18-7; Bharatiyar bt Rajasthan 15-11; ANU bt SGB Amaravati 15-4.

Third round:

SGB (Amaravati) bt Kota 10-4; Rajasthan bt Pune 22-20; Bikaner bt Solapur 9-1; Osmania bt Annamalai 14-12; ANU bt Thiruvalluvar 17-3, Bharatiyar bt Saurashtra 16-8; Kerala bt Bangalore 12-0; Gujarat bt Maharshi Dayanand 14-2.

SRR & CVR in final

SRR & CVR College (Vijayawada) defeated Jaggaiahpet’s SGS College by three wickets to enter the final of the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate (North Zone) cricket tournament at the Andhra Loyola College grounds here on Monday.

The scores:

SGS (Jaggaiahpet) 93 in 27.3 overs lost to SRR & CVR (Vijayawada) 94 for seven in 23 overs.

Volleyball tournament

The State senior inter-district volleyball championship for men and women will be held at Nalgonda from November 10 to 14, the Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association President, A. Ramana Rao, said here on Sunday.

GHMC basketball

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will conduct its annual, open basketball tournament for men and women from November 10 at the Victory Playground.
