BANGALORE: Karnataka State Police beat Rail Wheel Factory 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the BEL Sports Club hockey tournament for the Kodava Cup here on Monday. Parmesh (41st) and Magesh (52nd) scored for KSP while Jayaraj (25th) scored for RWF. In another quarterfinal fixture Maharatta Light Infantry beat host BEL 2-1. Kalyan Bhengre (31st) scored off a penalty corner and Krishna Patil (40th) scored the match-winner. Sandeep (27th) kept BEL’s hopes alive in the first half. The match between ASC and Central Excise which had been called off with 23 minutes play remaining on Saturday was completed and ASC defeated Central Excise 2-1. Sanjay Tete (38th) and Harpreet Singh (43rd) scored for ASC while Bojanna (16th) sounded the boards for Central Excise. MEG ‘B’ will clash with KSP in the first semifinal on Tuesday while ASC and MLI will play for a place in the final in the second fixture. Naveen, Chandrika to leadK. Naveen Kumar and Chandrika will lead the Indian boys and girls teams respectively in the throwball series against Sri Lanka at Colombo from November 7 to 9. The teams: Boys: K. Naveen Kumar (captain), Purushotam, Harish, Shamantha Nayaka, Sharanya Kumar, Vinay, Kaushal Gardia, Abhishek, Dilip, Sreekanth, Shakeer, Manjit Rana, Raju Dayal and Vijaya Kumar. Brothers FC’s Mansoor scored a brace (34th and 38th minutes), while Shabeer scored one. BMS bags titleBMS College of Law lifted the B.M. Sreenivasaiah Memorial Inter-Law Collegiate cricket tournament defeating Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies (BILS) by 60 runs in Bangalore. The scores: BMS CL 182 for four in 20 overs (Vivek 67) bt BILS 122 for nine.
