Minister attributes conditions to ‘careless attitude’ adopted by TDP government HYDERABAD: Social Welfare Minister P. Subash Chandra Bose has advised the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders not to politicise the issues pertaining to conditions in the department hostels. Problems in these hostels were a result of the “careless attitude” adopted by the previous government and that the leaders were trying to derive political mileage out of the issue, he told a press conference here on Sunday. Mr. Bose expressed his willingness to take up a debate on the hostels in the Assembly’s winter session, claiming that the TDP leaders would have to regret their decision “once the facts come out.” Enhanced allocationsHe admitted that inmates of the hostels were facing certain problems due to lack of amenities. The government had, therefore, enhanced the allocations for putting in place the necessary infrastructure before the current financial year. Mr. Bose said the government had set apart Rs. 1,719.10 crore for the current year alone. Diet charges had been increased, while the allocation for maintenance of hostels had almost been doubled. In addition, the Government had sanctioned 120 integrated hostels with an estimated Rs. 231.60 crore and the tendering process for their work was in progress, he said.
