Two top militant commanders killed
JAMMU: Four militants, including two top cadres of the Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen, were killed on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.
On a tip off, a joint team of police and army personnel launched a search operation in Sonarthawar area in Thatri belt and trapped two LeT militants in the house of Bashir Ahmed, DIG Farooq Khan told the PTI. In the shootout, Showkat Ahmed alais Abu Aqib, a district commander and Lateef Ahmed alias Abu Zubair were killed. One AK rifle, one SLR with five magazines and some grenades were recovered. Aqib was active in the area since 2000 and Zubair from 2005, Khan said. — PTI
