Dey wins three gold medals

NEW DELHI: Sukhan Dey lifted 103kg in snatch and 132kg in clean and jerk for a total of 235kg and won three gold medals in the men’s 56kg category of the Asian junior weightlifting championship in Amman, Jordan.

On the final day of the championship, the Indian lifters grabbed three gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.

Pramod Goswami finished behind Dey, but managed just one silver medal in snatch with a lift of 102kg.

M. Siva Rani (48-kg) lifted 67kg in snatch and 88kg in jerk to bag three bronze medals.

M. Sunibala Devi (53-kg) claimed two silver medals and a bronze with lifts of 72kg in snatch and 95kg in jerk.

Her total of 167kg gave her the bronze.

Ravi Maheshwari (58-kg) won three bronze medals when he lifted 60kg in snatch and 75kg in jerk for a total of 135kg.
