Four arrested on burglary charges

KOCHI: The Ernakulam town central police arrested four persons on Sunday night on burglary charges. Kumar, 26, also known as Sankara Pandian, of Madurai, Tamil Nadu; Suni, 22, also known as Pasa Suni, of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh; Rajesh, 25, also known as Karuppai Rajesh, of Piravom; and Gopalakrishnan, 27, of Thevanalkkamchetty, Tamil Nadu, are the arrested.

The police said Kumar and Rajesh were arrested for breaking into the District Sports Council office and stealing sport equipment valued at Rs. 25,000 on October 8. They later sold the material to various shops in the city.

Kumar was also accused, along with Suni, of stealing electric cables, estimated at nearly Rs. 1 lakh, from a godown on Krishnaswamy Road. All three were arrested from near the KSRTC bus stand. Gopalakrishnan was arrested at Pullepady while attempting a burglary.
