Laxman to lead Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: V.V.S. Laxman will lead Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy cricket championship against Bengal and Punjab.

Under-19 team

The following will represent the Hyderabad under-19 team in the all-India Vinoo Mankad Trophy knock-out cricket tournament to be held in Agartala.

SCR beats EME Centre

South Central Railway scored a 2-0 win over EME Centre in the SAAP Premier League prize-money football tournament here on Monday.

Winger and substitute Andrews put SCR ahead in the 45th minute and later Alfred struck off a solo effort.

In another match, Hyderabad Globe notched up a 2-0 win over Shastri Club with Hannan striking a brace — first through a solo effort in the 15th minute and then converting a penalty-kick in the 65th minute.

St. Patrick’s wins

St. Patrick’s HS recorded a hard-fought 4-3 win via the tie-breaker over St. Joseph’s School (Trimulgherry) in the Dr. John de Souza inter-school football tournament here.

The teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. Anvesh, Sandeep, Avinash and Theo were on target in the tie-break for the winner while Rodricks, Chuchitran and Rahul scored for the loser.

Other results: St. Andrew’s HS 3 (Sohail, Clinton Amalraj and Nagarjuna) bt Model Mission 0.

Double for Osama

S.M. Osama bagged a double, winning the boys’ under-10 and 12 singles titles in the Twin Ci Tennis Academy mini-junior tennis tournament here.

The results (finals): Under-8: Anvesh Rao bt Mourya 6-3; Under-10: S.M. Osama bt Wahab 6-2; Under-12: Osama bt L. Anuragh 7-3; Doubles: Akash & Anirudh bt Numan & Rawal 7-5.

Girls: Under-8: Y. Pranjala bt Raveena Reddy 6-1; Under-10: Shruta Keerti bt Pranjala 6-3; Under-12: Harshita Rao bt P. Rashmitha Reddy 7-2.

Victory for Veva

Veva Infomatrix recorded a seven-wicket win over Vikas Plywood in the final of the Friendship Monsoon Cup cricket tournament here.

Rajesh and Fareed, both from Veva Infomatrix, were named as ‘best batsman’ and ‘best bowler’ respectively of the tournament.

The scores: Vikas Plywood 106 lost to Veva Infomatrix 110 for seven.

Ramu triumphs

N. Ramu of Broadcom won the men’s singles title in the Hyderabad Software Exporters Association annual table tennis tournament here.

Microsoft recorded an eight-wicket win over Monster.com in the JDA Corporate Olympiad cricket tournament here.

The scores: Deloitte 128 for eight bt SBH ‘B’ 125 for six.

Capgemini 134 for seven bt Google 130 for six (Srikant 51).

Monster.com 91 for one (Krishna four for four) lost to Microsoft 95 for two (Srikant 47 not out).

Vodafone 160 for nine (Pramod 91) bt HDFC Bank 145 (Sreekant Jr. 54).

Infoknox 161 for five (Amar Lakhatia 89 not out, Gurjinder Singh four for 18) bt UBS 156 (Ryan 41).

Tania Solutions 76 lost to UBS II 82 for four.

Dr. Reddy’s 167 for seven (Doli 47 not out) bt Patni Computers 126 (Phillips 56).
