Interest waiver scheme extended
Special Correspondent
CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here on Friday that the deadline for availing of interest waiver scheme on cooperative loans had been extended up to December this year. He was addressing farmers from all over the State who had called on him at his residence here to thank him for his efforts that led to the Centre’s lifting of the ban on export of non-basmati rice.
Earlier this deadline had been extended up to September this year. Mr. Hooda said that farmers, labourers and loanees had benefited to the tune of Rs.830 crore by waiver of interest on cooperative loans.
He said the lifting of the ban on the export of non-basmati rice had safeguarded the interests of the farmers and the traders.
Interestingly, several leaders of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) including Guni Parkash and Prem Singh Dahiya, appreciated the consistent pro-farmer stand of Mr. Hooda and recalled the assistance and moral support which he lent to the farmers during the Kandela agitation a couple of years ago.
