Harvesters NYC prevails

Udhagamandalam: Harvesters NYC scored a 2-1 win over Vivekananda Sports Club in the NDFA-Sterling Biotech first division football league at the HADP Open Air Stadium on Tuesday.

The results:

Harvesters NYC 2 (Manjunath 4, Noble 45) bt Vivekananda SC 1 (R. Sivakumar 52).

Amit lifts title

At Namakkal, Amit of Tiruchi ousted title contender S. Kannan of JKKM Tennis Club 10-4 to lift the men’s singles title in the State-level tennis tournament, jointly conducted by the Namakkal District Tennis Association and the JKKM Tennis Club, at the JKKM courts in Komarapalayam recently.

The results:

Men: Singles: Amit (Tiruchi) bt S. Kannan (JKKM Tennis Club) 10-4; Doubles: S. Settu/ S. Kannan (JKKM) vs. Amit/ Rajesh (Tiruchi). Declared joint winners due to rain.

U-12: Singles: Jayant bt Vigneswaran 8-4.

Veterans: Doubles: S. Settu/ A. Sethu (JKKM) bt Mubaraka/ Lakshmanan (Salem) 8-5.

Double for Harshan

At Coimbatore, Harshan of Tirupur clinched the cadet boys’ singles and doubles titles in the fifth annual ‘Catch them Young’ table tennis tournament for the S.R. Jewellery and G.S. & Company rolling Trophies at the YTTA Hall recently.

Boys: Singles: Mini-cadets: Harish (YTTA) bt M. Sivaprakash (KTVR) 13-11, 11-7, 11-5; Cadets: Harshan (Tirupur) bt M. Harish Kumar (KTVR) 11-7, 11-4, 11-9; Sub-juniors: K. Aditya (Bharathi MHSS) bt M. Srinivas (Sindhi Vidyalaya) 11-8, 11-7.

Doubles: Cadets: Harshan/ M. Harish Kumar bt Harish/ Gogul (YTTA) 11-8, 7-11, 11-9; Sub-juniors: P. Shyam Venkataraman/ M. Srinivas (KTVR) bt T. Siddharth/ M. Harish (KTVR) 12-10, 11-9; U-19: Mohandas/ Harshan (YTTA) bt Ramesh/ Rithesh (YTTA) 11-8, 8-11, 11-7.
