No more talks with lorry owners

THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Kerala government has decided to deal firmly with the three-day-old strike by lorry owners in protest against an official directive to remit contributions to the Transport Workers’ Welfare Fund.

Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan and Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran told The Hindu here on Sunday the government was not planning to hold talks with the lorry owners who, they said, had been given enough concessions in time and contribution amount.Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas told The Hindu that a meeting would be held in Kozhikode on Monday to evaluate how people had been affected by the strike.
