Routes to reach Pasumpon fixed

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The district administration has laid down traffic regulations for vehicles proceeding to and returning from Pasumpon in connection with Thevar guru puja functions between October 28 and 30.

Chairing a meeting to discuss the security arrangements, the Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, said that vehicles from different parts of the district should take only the routes specified by the police. Those vehicles found violating the routes would be seized, Mr. Chandrasekaran. warned

The participants would not be allowed to travel in cargo vehicles such as lorries, open vans and tractors.

Besides, no public address system would be permitted in moving vehicles. The district police would conduct vehicle checks for clubs and other weapons at all the check-posts located on the inter-district roads.

Vehicles coming from Rajapalayam, Srivilliputtur, Sivakasi, Sattur and Virudhunagar must go through Aruppukottai, M. Reddiyapatti, Mandapa Salai, Sannarpatti junction and Kamuthi.

Vehicles coming from Tiruchuzhi should take the route via Mandala Manickam, Sannarpatti junction and Kamuthi.

Participants from Aviyur, Kariyapatti and Narikudi must go through Veeracholan and follow the above said route from Mandala Manickam.

The route for vehicles coming from Mallankinaru is Kalkurichi, Aruppukottai, M. Reddiyapatti, Sannarpatti and Kamuthi.

The vehicles should return through the same routes, the Collector said.

Repair works would be taken up on the roads leading to Pasumpon by the State Highways Department. Ambulance and fire fighting vehicles would be stationed on important junctions. The retail liquor shops on the said routes would remain closed on October 30.
