Reservoir gates jammed

SIRSI: Officials of Dharma reservoir near here could not open the jammed gates of the reservoir for the third on Thursday to release water for paddy cultivation. The new gates have not been opened after their installation, according to executive engineer Rajkmar Reddi. Farmers had been demanding that water be released at the earliest to irrigate the standing paddy crop. Divers from Goa did not succeed in their efforts to open the gates. – Staff Corresondent
