Indian challenge ends

Principal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Indian challenge in football ended when the host lost to defending champion Egypt by a solitary goal in the quarterfinal at the World Military Games here on Tuesday.

After the two teams failed to break the deadlock at the end of full-time, the match was extended into extra-time. In the 101st minute Abdul Nassir scored of a long-ranger from the right flank for Egypt to seal India’s fate. The only consolation for the home team was that the defence led by Ganesh was solid and never really let the Egypitans dominate through the regulation time.
