Sai Ram pips Santosh Ravuri

DEHRADUN: Andhra Pradesh’s Sai Ram beat team-mate Santosh Ravuri 19-21, 25-23, 21-14 in the under-13 boys semifinals of the 21st National sub-junior badminton championship here on Monday. Ram will face the top-seeded Rohit Yadav in the final.

The other top players, B. Sai Praneeth, N. Siki Reddy and P. V. Sindhu of Andhra Pradesh also made the final to set up a possible title sweep for the State.

The results:

Boys: Under-16: Semifinals: B. Sai Praneeth bt Saarang Lakhani 21-14, 21-14; Sameer Verma bt Hirak Jyoti Neog 21-13, 21-19.

Quarterfinals: Sai Praneeth bt Deepak Bisht 21-18, 21-17; Saarang bt Anurag Thakkar 19-21, 21-17, 21-18; Sameer bt H. S. Prannoy 21-15, 13-21, 21-13; Hirak Jyoti bt Manu Attri 22-20, 21-19.

Under-13: Semifinals: Rohit Yadav bt Arshalan Naqvi 21-11, 21-3; B. Sai Ram bt Santosh Ravuri 19-21, 25-23, 21-14.

Quarterfinals: Arshalan bt Shyam Prasad 21-9, 23-21; Santosh bt Lal Tan Puia 22-20, 21-17; Sai Ram bt Arun George 21-12, 18-21, 21-13.

Girls: Under-16: Semifinals: N. Siki Reddy bt Saili Rane 21-17, 21-6; Prajakta Sawant bt Tanvi Laad 21-18, 21-10. Quarterfinals: Siki Reddy bt Sanyogita Ghorpade 21-13, 21-13; Saili bt Vijetha Bhargava 21-10, 9-21, 21-19; Tanvi bt Saee Purandare 21-11, 21-19; Prajakta bt Uttara Prakash 21-16, 21-12.
