Ashwin stars for Tamil Nadu

VISAKHAPATNAM: R. Ashwin was the toast of Tamil Nadu as the team pulled off an exciting two-wicket win with four balls to spare over Hyderabad in the third round of round-robin matches in the South Zone under-22 (C.K. Nayudu Trophy) tournament at the Railway stadium here on Monday. Points table (at the end of third round of round-robin matches): Tamil Nadu 14, Karnataka 9, Andhra 8, Hyderabad 7, Goa 2, Kerala 0.

The scores: Karnataka 222 and 307 for three decl. bt Goa 214 and 95 in 31 overs (Umesh Karvi five for 29).

Hyderabad 297 and 255 for three decl. in 61 overs (D. Prince 119 n.o., D.B. Ravi Teja 77) lost to Tamil Nadu 306 for eight in 81.2 overs (R. Ashwin 69 n.o., K.H. Gopinadh 61, R. Srinivasan 59, R. Naresh 41).

Kerala 102 and 210 in 76 overs (Roshan Prem 71, G.V.S. Prasad four for 72) lost to Andhra 376 for seven decl. in 129 overs.
