Hyderabad in finals

VIJAYAWADA: Defending champion Hyderabad and Kurnool entered the women’s final in the 33rd AP senior State inter-district basketball championship, held at Ramachandhrapuram (East Godavari) on Monday, according to information reaching here.

The results:

Women (semifinals): Kurnool 41 (Ashwini 11) bt Nellore 23 (Padmavathi 17).

Hyderabad 35 bt East Godavari 14.

KLCE posts win

Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering defeated Kaikaluru’s YVNR Government Degree College by 131 runs in the Acharya Nagarjuna University East Zone inter-collegiate cricket tournament on Monday.

The scores: KLC Engineering 175 in 30 overs (Ravi 44, Naveen 33, Srikanth 30) bt YVNR Govt. DC: 44 in 18 overs.

Basha slams century

Sk. Basha‘s 103 for Guntur against Prakasam was the highlight of the first day’s play of the ACA Central Zone u-17 inter-district cricket tournament at Guntur on Monday.

The match between Krishna and West Godavari was curtailed due to rain.

The scores:

Guntur 380 for nine decl. in 77.4 overs (Sk. Basha 103, Sivakoti 87, Anil 67, Kalyan three for 77) vs. Prakasam 34 for one in 13 overs.

Krishna 84 for one in 36 overs vs. West Godavari.

Good show by Rao

V.R. Siddhartha Engineering gymnast T.S. Koteswara Rao emerged individual all-around champion in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate gymnastics competitions, which concluded here on Sunday.

The results (winners): Floor exercises: T.S. Koteswara Rao (VRS Engg); Pommel Horse: Koteswara Rao; Rings: Koteswara Rao; Vault table: Koteswara Rao; Parallel bars: Koteswara Rao; Horizontal bar: Koteswara Rao; Individual all-around champion: T.S. Koteswara Rao.

Hat-trick by Mahesh

Leg-spinner Mahesh Babu of Visakhapatnam performed a hat-trick in his first-day’s haul of four wickets for seven runs against Vizianagaram in the ACA North Zone under-17 inter-district tournament for the GSS Raju trophy at the Miracle Software ground, Bhogapuram on Friday.

The scores:

Visakhapatnam 132 in 53 overs (Ch. Rajesh Yadav 47, A. Ravi Kumar four for 25) vs. East Godavari 69 for nine in 35 overs (Mahesh Babu four wickets for seven runs, including a hat-trick, Chanukya three for 21).

Srikakulam 160 in 58 overs (B. Anand 41 n.o., S.H. Srinivasu 34, M. Chaitanya 32, Swati Kumar four for 44) vs. Vizianagaram 120 for five in 39 overs (N. Sravana Kumar 34 batting, Srinivasu three for 17)

Rishita sizzles

NTR University of Health Sciences archer Mandava Rishita won four medals (three gold and one silver) in the compound segment of the on-going all-India inter-university archery championship at Punjab University at Chandigarh on Monday, according to information received in Vijayawada.

Kadapa triumphs

Kadapa won the Senior inter-district women’s hockey championship defeating Chittoor 2-1 in the final near Guntur on Monday, according to information received in Hyderabad.

For the winner, Saraswati and Alekhya were the scorers, while for the loser, Rajini reduced the margin.
