Former High Court judge T.N. Vallinayagam presenting the Vasthu Rathna award to Dr. Karthikeyan Venkatesan at a function organised by World Peace and Friendship Council in Chennai on Sunday. CHENNAI: The World Peace and Friendship Council honoured four personalities on Sunday for their “exemplary dedication to the cause of promoting harmony and friendship among various sections of society.” Among those who received the awards were advocate Ratna Asokan (Seva Ratna award), Dr. Nargunam (Mother Teresa award) and Dr. Aruna Ramakrishnan (Mother Teresa Excellence Award). The awards were instituted by the Council for recognising individual contribution to society, president G. Manilal said. Gandhian idealsSpeaking on the occasion, former Supreme Court judge S. Mohan said that following Gandhian ideals was essential to promote peace among the people of the world. “Bridges of understanding should be built between various nations in the interest of world peace.” K. Venkataraman, Madras High Court judge, and K. Meer Mustafa Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R Medical University, were present.
