CHENNAI: Several film actors received awards at a ceremony organised by the Film Fans’ Association here on Sunday.
Actors were presented with the 56th annual award ‘Cine Bests of 2006’ of the Association. Film producers G. Ramkumar and KRG were presented with ‘Outstanding Contribution to Filmdom’ awards. Jeeva got two awards for his performance in Tamil movie ‘E’ and ‘Keerthichakram’ in Malayalam.
Actor Sandhya received two awards — for Tamil film ‘Dishyum’ and Telugu film ‘Annavaram’. Music director Harris Jayaraj, lyricist Vairamuthu, actor Vadivukarasi, comedian Karunas and debutant actors Harikumar and Karthika were among the other recipients. Presenting the awards, former Madras High Court judge T.N. Vallinayagam appealed to the industry to make movies meant not only for entertainment.
