Ashish opened Thilak Memorial’s account with a goal in the 38th minute and later, Kiran struck in succession (42nd, 62nd and 89th minutes) to put the match beyond Universal’s grasp. Later, LRDE and BEML (EM) played out a goalless draw. KACD triumphsAt Dharwad, Karnatak Arts College, Dharwad (KACD) won the overall championship in the 57th Karnatak University inter-collegiate athletic meet, which concluded on Saturday. While Karnatak Arts College pooled 88 points to win the overall championship, JSS College of Dharwad came second with 78 points. KACD won the team championship in the women’s category, while JSS College won the team championship in the men’s category. Three meet records were set on the final day. Siddappa Shivanur of JSS College set a record in the 21 km half-marathon event by covering the distance in 1:7.10 seconds. Shilpa Magalad of KACD set her second record of the meet by winning the 400m hurdles in 1 minute and 4.35 seconds. S.B. Akshaya of KACD too set her second record of the championship by winning in the women’s triple jump event by clearing 12.57m. Siddappa bagged the individual championship in the men’s category. Akshaya, Shilpa and Sridevi Patil of Karnatak College shared the individual championship in the women’s category. The results:(winners only) Men: 100m: Suil Thomas; Triple jump: M.P.
