NEW DELHI: Former Delhi captain K.P. Bhaskar has been appointed coach of the Rajasthan team for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy season. A distinguished coach at the National Cricket Academy, Bhaskar, 44, was in the panel of Match Referees for the domestic circuit. Bhaskar, employed with the Sail Authority of India Limited, would be working with former India coach Greg Chappell, who is in charge of the Rajasthan Cricket Academy. “I am in charge of the Ranji Trophy team but I would be assisting Greg. It is an honour to learn from such a great cricketer and I am sure the players would benefit immensely from his cricket wisdom,” said Bhaskar on his new responsibility. Bhaskar played 95 First Class matches and hit 18 centuries and 21 half-centuries. He was slated to make his international debut against New Zealand in a one-day match at Jammu in 1988 but unfortunately the match was washed out without a ball being bowled. — Special Correspondent
