Bindra is eighth

NEW DELHI: World Champion Abhinav Bindra finished eighth in a field of nine shooters in air rifle in the World Cup Finals at Bangkok on Sunday. He shot a 594 in the qualifying series and 101.6 in the final. He had a series of 99, 98, 99, 100, 99 and 99 in the preliminary series.

The results: Men’s air rifle: 1. Zhu Qinan (Chn) 700.6 (598); 2. Peter Sidi (Hun) 698.9 (596); 3. Tino Mohaupt (Ger) 697.8 (596); 8. Abhinav Bindra 695.6 (594).
