Held for creating fake documents

CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Saturday arrested one person on charges of creating fake documents for a government-owned property, which was sold to a Non-Resident Indian.

According to the police, Ayyadurai an NRI residing at T.Nagar, was informed by his auditor Rajkumar that a property spread over 10 grounds on Hunters Road, Vepery, was available for sale.

Believing his auditor, Mr. Ayyadurai is said to have entered into an agreement with Arumugam, the power agent of the Ramaiah Chettiar, who owned the property before the Government took possession of it.

Mr. Ayyadurai paid Rs. 2.75 crore in cash and Rs. 2 crore by way of demand drafts to Rajkumar. Police said the auditor and N.N. Ramanathan of Pudukottai, the person arrested, allegedly created fake documents for sale of the land, as if it had been relinquished by the Government to Ramaiah Chettiar.

The two created a fake G.O., a court order, a letter written by the Collector to the Government Pleader and his reply.
