Special Correspondent

‘Petitions regarding the alignment issue stand resolved’

HYDERABAD: A major hurdle for the Outer Ring Road Phase II work was cleared on Monday when the High Court passed a judgement in favour of HUDA with regard to a petition challenging the alignment of ORR in the villages of Narsingi, Poppalguda in the western sector under the ORR Phase II A.

The petition was filed about eight months ago. “The decision is important as it was concerning the alignment and it could have stalled the work in some stretches,” said ORR Project Director Piyush Kumar. With this majority of the petitions regarding the alignment issue stand resolved, he said.

The authorities are also hopeful of resolving the alignment issue with Maheswaram mandal farmers who were objecting to the alignment and filed a petition in the High Court.

Report

Meanwhile the CBI which has been inquiring into the allegations levelled by Nagam Janardhan Reddy of Telugu Desam and others is expected to submit its report in a week. Mr. Piyush Kumar said that the 50 per cent of right of way for the 62 km ORR Phase II A is needed to commence the work and of 2,300 acres required for the Phase II A, HUDA already acquired 1,700 acres and the work would commence by second week of October.

The 25 per cent of the project cost, to be executed under BOT annuity model, will be borne by the HUDA and initially Rs.100 crore, will be deposited for commencing the work. “This amount would be mobilised from the successful bidders of the recent auctions conducted by HUDA for the Pentagon, Rockdale projects and also for the leftover plots in various HUDA layouts,” Mr.Piyush Kumar said.

The 62 km ORR Phase II A, was divided into five packages- Narsingi to Kollur (12 km) and Kollur to Patancheru (11.7 km), Pedda Amberpet- Bongulur 13km), Bongulur-Thukkuguda (13 km) and Thukkuguda to Shamshabad (12.63 km) and work was already awarded to successful bidders in the international competitive bidding.
