HYDERABAD: Big Arnie for the city? Hollywood superhero and now Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger is likely to visit the twin cities as part of the sister city pact with the Riverside City in United States.
Mr. Schwarzenegger was originally scheduled to come sometime next month but it has been put off for some unexplained reasons, according to information reaching here from the delegation of city civic officials led by GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma, currently on a tour to the Riverside City.
Dr. Sarma is accompanied by – Additional Commissioners B. Ramesh Babu (Works), V. Siva Pravathi (Urban Community Development), Secunderabad Cantonment Board Executive Officer V. Premchand and others. He offered to host an admission office of the University of California in the GHMC buildings and later have a full-fledged off site campus in the city. The delegation was shown the Riverside’s two power plant run by natural gas and waste treatment facility.
They also visited its traffic management centre, solid waste recycling facility and a new freeway designed to withstand big earthquakes.
