Subba Reddy and Shyam shine for North Zone ’A’

VIJAYAWADA: North Zone ‘A’ restricted Central Zone ‘B’ to 114 in 67 overs at close on the first day of the two-day ACA Matrix Labs Central Zone under-15 inter-zonal cricket tournament at Guntur on Monday.

According to information reaching here, Subba Reddy (four for 22) and Shyam Sunder (four for 15) were the pick of the North Zone ‘A’ bowlers.

In reply, North Zone ‘A’ was 23 for three with K. Murali scalping three for four.

Meanwhile, the match between Central Zone ‘A’ and North Zone ‘B’ match was washed out due to rain.

The scores:

Central Zone ‘B’ 114 in 67 overs (Harshavardhan 35, Subba Reddy four for 22, Shyam Sundar four for 15) vs. North Zone ‘A’ 23 for three in 18 overs (K. Murali three for four).

SAI teams

Eight gymnasts from the Vijayawada SAI Centre will take part in the all-India inter-SAI gymnastics championship for sub-juniors, juniors and seniors boys’ at Aurangabad from October 3 to 5.

The teams:

Sub juniors: Nagamallesh, Nishanth, V. Sivaram. Juniors: K.V. Suresh, B. Avinash, A. Hari Sai Kiran, P.H. Murali Krishna, K. Krishna Chaitanya.

AP teams qualify

The victorious Andhra Pradesh boys’ and girls’ teams in the South Zone badminton tournament have qualified to take part in the junior Nationals at Nellore in December, Badminton Association of India’s Joint Secretary, K. Ch. Punnaiah Chowdary, said.

Postponed

The ACA under-17 inter-zonal cricket tournament scheduled to begin from October 19 at Anantapur, has been postponed to October 28.

Meanwhile, the North Zone under-17 inter-district tournament will be held at Vizinagaram from October 12, instead of October 11.

Srikakulam, Vizinagaram, Vizag and East Godavari will take part in the tournament from October 12 to 17. — Sports Reporter
