Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Indian Air Force, a ‘Run for Fun’ was organised on Sunday morning at the Southern Air Command headquarters at Akkulam here. Air Marshal Y.R. Rane, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, flagged off the run in which more than 300 Air Warriors along with their families and schoolchildren participated. The event was organised by the Southern Air Command Sports Control Board. The run was simultaneously organised at all units of SAC. The event was followed by film screening for the personnel and their families. As the culmination of the jubilee celebrations, various events have been planned till October 8, Air Force Day, at the units of SAC. A trekking expedition to the Neyyar wildlife sanctuary will be conducted on October 3 while a motorcycle rally is to be taken out from Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari on October 4. Air Marshal Rane will interact with the media at a press conference on October 3 at the SAC headquarters. An oath taking ceremony will take place at SAC HQ parade ground on Air Force Day.
