Chennai: The Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, a U.S. State University, opened its first overseas office here on Friday.
The office will offer full-fledged admission services, such as verification of admission documents in person and online links through a dedicated website, www.kutztown.com.
The U.S. is keen to encourage more Indian students to enrol in its universities and has taken several initiatives on that front, Mark Russell, Commercial Consul of the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, said inaugurating the office, adding that about 76,000 Indian students were studying in U.S. institutions.
Kutztown was looking to admitting more Indian students for its masters programme and expanding its international student profile, Javier F Cevallos, university president, said.
Indian students wanting to apply to Kutztown will have to route their applications through the Chennai office which will also accept transcripts and facilitate an application fee waiver till October 31, Indu Palaniappan, university consultant for the KU India office said,
