Suitable land

to set up new dumping yard sought

KANCHEEPURAM: The Directorate of Town Panchayats has directed the Nandivaram-Guduvancheri Town Panchayat to refrain from dumping garbage into “Eesa Lake” with immediate effect.

The Director of Town Panchayats, K. Gopal, who paid a surprise visit to the Nandivaram-Guduvancheri recently, urged District Collector Pradeep Yadav to allot suitable land near the town panchayat for a new dumping yard.

He directed civic body officials to level the burial ground area, where garbage had already been dumped, and construct a compound wall and a cremation shed.

After inspecting the bus stand, Mr. Gopal asked the EO and the elected chairman M.K. Dhandapani to initiate steps to set up basic infrastructure facilities for the benefit of commuters.

He also urged them to conduct a campaign to plant 1,000 saplings in the civic body area.
