Meet to revive Congress prospects in Radhapuram

Staff Reporter

TIRUNELVELI: To revive the prospects of the Congress party at Radhapuram Assembly constituency, a traditional bastion of the ruling party at the Centre, the Nanguneri MLA, H. Vasanthakumar, has planned to conduct a conference at Radhapuram on September 29.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Vasanthakumar said the Congress party at Radhapuram segment, which was repeatedly represented by Congress Legislators, had lost its sheen in the recent past and hence the conference was being organised to energise the party and rejuvenate its cadres.

Apart from revitalising the party, the effort would bring back the real Congress cadres back to the party with fresh vigour, he noted.

Similar conferences would be organised at Tenkasi and Alangulam Assembly constituencies, Mr. Vasanthakumar added.

Campaign troupe

Mr. Vasanthakumar said a campaign troupe would soon start touring the State to highlight the achievements of the Centre through dance and drama after the United Progressive Alliance government, headed by the Congress, came to power.

“All these efforts will collectively ensure the resounding victory of the Congress in Tamil Nadu during next Parliamentary polls,” he said.

Manufacturers invited to open units

The MLA said he had written to leading electronic goods manufacturers such as Samsung, Videocon, Whirlpool, IFB etc. to start their units at Nanguneri, where the State Government had given permission to establish industries in seven categories.
