WARM WELCOME: Sachin Tendulkar is being received at a hotel in Bangalore on Friday.
BANGALORE: The Australian cricket team means business and it was evident the way it went about it during the more than three hours of serious practice at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Thursday afternoon.
The pitch seemed to have caught their attention and the expected bounce and carry must have surely pleased the Aussie players.
Incidentally, this will be the second match on the newly laid pitch after the Afro-Asia Cup encounter in June.
Also sweating it out were the four Indian seniors — Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Zaheer Khan. Ace leg-spinner Anil Kumble was seen bowling to Tendulkar at the nets, while the Indian bowling coach, Venkatesh Prasad, and Sunil Joshi joined in.
Ramesh Powar too trudged along to turn him arm over at the nets to the three batsmen.
The trio apparently spent some quality time working out in the gym prior to the nets. The rest of the team is expected to assemble on Friday morning for a practice session. — Special Correspondent
