ANANTAPUR: The junior civil judge’s court at Rayadurg on Monday postponed the hearing in the defamation case filed by the director of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), G. Janardhana Reddy, against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, party MP M.V. Mysoora Reddy and publishers of two Telugu newspapers, Ch. Ramoji Rao and V. Radhakrishna, to November 5. A team of counsel for the TDP leaders and Mr. Ramoji Rao comprising K. Ravindra Kumar, Y. Lepakshi Naidu and Nalini Kumar filed petitions under Section 205 of CrPC seeking exemption for their client from appearing in court personally. They cited security and public engagements as the reasons for seeking the exemption. Counsel’s contentionInstead, the counsel of the respective clients would attend the court on their behalf, they said in the petition. However, counsel for Mr. Janardhana Reddy, Y.H. Babu Rao, contested that the respondents of his client should not be given exemption from personal appearance in court even though they were public figures and had security reasons. After hearing the arguments, Judge Srinivasulu admitted the petition filed on behalf of the respondents and allowed the counsel to attend the court on their behalf. He postponed the case to November 5 for the next hearing. Meanwhile, speaking to mediapersons outside the court, the counsel for Mr. Janardhana Reddy said that they would move the High Court against the permission granted by the local court to the respondents of his client giving them exemption from personal appearance.
