Karuna sizzles

VIJAYAWADA: Karuna Jain’s unbeaten 87 for Karnataka against Kerala was the highlight of the first day’s play in the two-day South Zone senior women’s tournament held at Anantapur on Saturday, according to information reaching here.

The scores:

Andhra 80 in 57.4 overs (Manjula three for 3) vs. Tamil Nadu 106 for two in 35 overs (P. Kamini 56 batting).

Kerala 65 in 54.3 overs (Mamata Maben five for 11, Vanitha three for eight) vs. Karnataka 157 for one in 40 overs (Karuna Jain 87 batting, Hema Malini 41).

Hyderabad 166 for nine decl. in 75 overs (Archana Das 49, Sravanthi Naidu 49, Santoshi Rane three for 49) vs. Goa 24 for 2 in 23 overs.
