Canadian currency in parity with U.S. dollar

OTTAWA: The Canadian dollar continued to surge and reached parity with the U.S. dollar on Thursday morning, the first time in 31 years. The Canadian currency, nicknamed the loonie after the bird picture on the one-dollar coin, rose to as high as $1.0004.
