‘Rama not an imaginary person’

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: “There is evidence to prove that Rama was not an imaginary character but a messiah,” Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda said at a press conference when asked about his views on the row over Ram Sethu. This indicates his and his party’s stand on the Ram Sethu issue, he said.

Mr. Gowda refused to enter into a controversy over the United Progressive Alliance Government’s affidavit on Ram Sethu that was withdrawn from the Supreme Court.

“Ask this question to those who filed such an affidavit,” he remarked and observed that the UPA itself was divided over the issue.

There is “no question” of protecting those involved in the torching of the bus and also the attack on the house of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter, Mr. Gowda said.
