GOTEBORG: Andy Roddick will face Joachim Johansson, who has not played a match in eight months because of injury, in Friday’s opening singles of the Davis Cup semifinal between Sweden and the United States. Thursday’s draw also pitted Swedish No. 1 Thomas Johansson against James Blake in the second singles match on Scandinavium Arena’s indoor carpet. In Saturday’s doubles, Simon Aspelin will team up with veteran Jonas Bjorkman against American twins Bob and Mike Bryan, the world’s top-ranked pair. Both captains — Mats Wilander for Sweden and Patrick McEnroe for the United States — can change their doubles teams one hour before the match starts. In Moscow, Tommy Haas will challenge Igor Andreev as Russia and Germany begin their semifinal tie on Friday. In the day’s second rubber, Russia’s World No. 4 Nikolay Davydenko will take on Philipp Kohlschreiber. The host will field Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny in Saturday’s doubles against Alexander Waske and Philipp Petzschner. — Agencies
