Law college incident: cases registered

KANCHEEPURAM: The police have registered cases under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Human Harassment Act in connection with the “untoward incidents” on Chengalpattu Law College premises on Wednesday.

While a case under Section 4 of TNPHH Act and Section 354 of IPC was registered against second year student Devanathan based on a complaint from first year student Azhaguvalli, a case under Section 147 (unlawful assembly), Section 148 (possession of deadly weapons), Section 427 (indulging in mischief and causing damage to public property) was booked against a group of students.

A third case was booked against ‘supporters’ of Palanivelrajan, brother of Ms. Azhaguvalli, under Section 147, 148 and 427 based on a complaint lodged by the college students, Superintendent of Police K. Periaiah said.
