Rural tourism, likely focus of TTDC

Staff Reporter

Kolkata: Rural tourism, with an emphasis on handicrafts, is likely to be a focus in future for promoting tourism in Tamil Nadu. This was stated by officials of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation who organised a publicity campaign here on Tuesday to popularise the State’s tourist destinations. Eastern India is already a major source of tourists for Tamil Nadu.

The State has already witnessed a growth of 21 per cent in tourist arrivals in 2006, according to a statement issued by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation.
