Free medicines will be distributed to needy patients

Palliative and pain care centre to be set up

CHENNAI: A day care centre for the elderly will be opened on September 25 as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Holy Trinity Church, a Church of South India Malayalam congregation, located at Vepery.

The project aims to provide an opportunity to about 30 aged persons to meet regularly at the Centre during the day. It will be operational by November, according to a press release from parish priest Shine John Mathew.

A palliative and pain care centre will also be set up, in which medicine will be distributed free of cost to needy patients. Health programmes for slum dwellers in the city, especially for children, are also being planned.

Souvenir

A souvenir that chronicles the history and social service of the church on Ritherdon Road, Vepery, will be released at the programme on September 25. Besides supporting the educational and financial needs of the underprivileged, the church also runs a health care centre in a village near Mangadu, located 25 kms away from the city.
