Man hacked to death

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: A man with a history sheet was murdered in broad daylight allegedly by members of his rival gang in Hoskerehalli area on Saturday morning.

The police said that Venkatesh alias Venky (25) was hacked to death in front of Shanimahatma Temple around 9.30 a.m. when he along with his associate Ravi came out of the temple after offering puja. Venkatesh was a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar in Katriguppe area.

It is learnt that Venkatesh and Ravi had just started off on a two-wheeler when the members of a rival gang who came in a sports utility vehicle tried to bump him off. In the melee, the driver of the SUV lost control and the vehicle got struck in a ditch.

Five members of the gang jumped out of the vehicle and chased Venkatesh and Ravi before hacking Venkatesh to death in full view of the public. The police sources suspect rivalry between the two gangs may have led to the murder.
