Regularisation of unauthorised constructions from tomorrow

Staff Reporter

Original documents should not be submitted with the application

Eight screening committees set up to verify the applications

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has tied up with the Postal Department, the Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank Limited. and the Directorate of BangaloreOne to implement the Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Regularisation of Unauthorised Development or Constructions) Rules 2007 from September 15. The last date to apply is December 14.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, BBMP Commissioner S. Subramanya said that interested people can buy the application forms and submit them at the same centres.

All violations pertaining to town planning, zoning regulations, setback and floor area ratio (FAR) that have come up before February 3, 2007 when the rules were framed are eligible for regularisation, he said.

Asserting that it is a “now or never” opportunity for citizens, the Commissioner said the last date would not be extended. Eight screening committees (one in each zone) had been set up to verify the applications and more would be set up if required, he said.

Releasing a handbook for regularisation, the Commissioner said the book had all details on how to apply. It also has the list of centres where the applications can be bought and submitted and details of the prescribed fee, he said.

If the building has more than two floors, a structural engineer has to certify the safety. The demand draft for the prescribed fee should be in favour of the BBMP Commissioner. To get violations pertaining to change in land use regularised, the demand draft should be in favour of the BDA Commissioner, he said, and added that people should not submit original documents along with the application.
