Karunya Evangeline football: Siva, Elamurugan strike for Loyola

Coimbatore: The men from Loyola College (Chennai) played with flair and finesse to oust Annamalai University (Chidambaram) 2-0 in their second-round football encounter in the 15th Karunya Evangeline South India level tournament at the Karunya University grounds here on Thursday.

Striker Siva opened the account for the team with a deft shot in the 29th minute. Elamurugan made it 2-0 with an equally brilliant effort ten minutes later.

In another exciting match, St. Joseph’s College (Tiruchi) battled hard to defeat Sathyabama University (Chennai) 6-4 via tiebreaker. The teams were locked 1-1 at the regulation period.

KEC triumphs

Kongu Engineering College (Perundurai) thrashed Kumaraguru College of Technology (Coimbatore) 3-0 to emerge champion of the Anna University Zone-7 table tennis tournament for women here on Thursday.

Government College of Technology defeated CSI (Udhagamandalam) 3-2 for the third spot.
