TIGHT SECURITY: Sleuths of the Mounted Branch positioned in front of the Meenakshi Sundareswar Temple in Madurai on Tuesday.

MADURAI: Security has been strengthened at the Meenakshi Sundareswar temple here, with more number of police personnel deployed for round-the-clock security.

Inspector-General of Police and Commissioner K. Nandabalan said security was tightened in and around the temple following the recent twin blasts in Hyderabad.

He said all five towers had been connected with intercom and wireless network. Speed-dome cameras had been installed at vantage points. A team would monitor the movement of visitors.

Officials of various agencies, including the Special Intelligence Cell, were involved. Steps were taken to issue photo identity cards to temple employees and contract workers. Doorframe metal detectors had been erected at all the entrances.
