KARAIKAL: The Puducherry Government’s scheme of free distribution of LPG stoves and domestic gas connection to the people of below poverty line was launched in Karaikal district in the Union Territory on Monday.
A.M.H. Nazeem, Karaikal MLA (DMK) and Leader of the Opposition in the Puducherry Assembly, inaugurated the scheme by distributing the free LPG stoves and gas connection here in the presence of N. Vasantha Kumar, Collector and other dignitaries.
Mr. Nazeem said that about 3,000 free LPG stoves and gas connection would be provided to the families of below poverty line in the district in a phased manner.
On Monday, about 550 families received the stoves and gas connection.
