Manipur flood situation under control

IMPHAL: The flood situation in Manipur is under control as water levels of major rivers have receded although many areas are still under water, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said.

The government would now concentrate on rehabilitation of victims, he told mediapersons here on Monday night.

In the four valley districts, 54,607 houses were damaged, and 39 relief camps opened.

At the press conference, two District Collectors complained to the Chief Minister that as the storekeeper went away after locking a Food and Civil Supplies godown here they could not procure supplies for distribution to the people.

At this, Mr. Ibobi rushed to the godown and under his supervision the padlock was smashed and food stocks were handed over to the Collectors.
