Marsh and Gandhe shine

CHENNAI: Off-spinner Pritam Gandhe took four for 51 to restrict Retravision Warriors to 226 for six on day one of the three-day cricket match against Air-India here at the MRF Pachiyappa’s ground.

Left-handed opener Shaun Marsh made 80 for Warriors before being trapped in front.

The Western Australian side, accompanied by head coach Tom Moody and assistant coach Trevor Penney, will travel to Bangalore to play a two-day game and two ODIs as part of its pre-season tour.

The scores: Retravision Warriors 226 for six in 90 overs (Clint Heron 45, Shaun Marsh 80, David Bandy 42, Pritam Gandhe four for 51) vs. Air-India.

City II makes 140

Half-centuries from P. Kaushik and R. Ricky Jones were the highlights of the first day’s play in the TNCA under-15 city round-robin league tournament played here.

Despite Kaushik’s 144-ball 52, City II was dismissed for 140 against Districts I. In another match, Ricky Jones (52) and T.R. Sylvester Jayam (41) helped City IV to 159 for five against Districts II.

The scores: City II 140 in 78.1 overs (P. Kaushik 52, R. Mohan Babu 27) vs. Districts I 27 for one in 17 overs.

City IV 159 for five in 71 overs (T.R. Sylvester Jayam 41, R. Ricky Jones 52) vs. Districts II.
