NEW DELHI: National champion Tania Sachdev went down to top seed China’s Ruan Lufei in 42 moves and surrendered her overnight half-point lead after the fourth round of the Asian women chess championship in Teheran on Thursday. The fourth-seeded Tania remained on three points and shared the second spot with five others, including Nisha Mohota. Ruan Lufei leads with 3.5 points. Aarthie Ramaswamy, who drew with Ruan Lufei in the opening round, scored her first victory by shutting out third-seeded Mongolian Bakhuyag Mongontuul in 21 moves. Aarthie (2.5 points) was the lone Indian to win on this day when Swati Ghate lost and Amruta Mokal drew. The results (fourth round, involving Indians): Ruan Lufei (Chn, 3.5) bt Tania Sachdev (3); Nisha Mohota (3) drew with Jun Wenjun (Chn, 3); Aarthie Ramaswamy (2.5) bt Batkhuyag Mongontuul (Mgl, 1.5). Eesha Karavade (2) drew with Zhang Xiaowen (Chn, 2); Swati Ghate (1.5) lost to Shayesteh Ghaderpour (Iri, 2.5); Shohreh Bayat (Iri, 1.5) drew with Amruta Mokal (1.5).
