KSEB women in final

KURIANOOR: KSEB women entered the final of the eighth Maxitulin Champions Trophy basketball tournament at the St. Thomas floodlit court here on Friday.

In the semifinals, KSEB trounced Centralised Sports Hostel (Kollam) 66-35. P. Lajitha once again did the star turn for the Thiruvananthapuram side. Customs and Central Excise (Kochi) defeated Mar Ivanios College (Thiruvananthapuram) 76-49 to enter the semifinals in the men’s section. Mar Ivanios, despite the defeat, also made it into last-four stage. BSNL edged out KSEB 76-69, but both teams qualified for the semifinals.

The results: Men: League: Customs and Central Excise 76 (Subash J. Shenoy 37, Vivek 12) bt Mar Ivanios College 49 (Jaseer 15); BSNL (Tvdm) 76 (C.V. Ratheesh 21, Bobit Mathew 10, Vijobi Vakkachan 10) bt KSEB (Tvdm) 69 (T.S. Deepumon 19, T.S. Abhilash 14, J.S. Deepu 12).
